BOX OFFICE SALES REPRESENTATIVE (ON-CALL)
Department: Events Management
Reports To: Patron Services Manager
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
OVERVIEW: The Box Office Sales Representative is the primary contact for the diverse patron base purchasing tickets and attending the Cowell and Southside Theaters, as well as being a support person for other FMCAC events. The Box Office Sales Representative will work on site to execute ticketing needs for a variety of events. The ideal candidate is customer-service focused and able to act with tact and diplomacy in dealing with people in difficult situations.
Essential Qualifications:
Strong administrative and customer-service skills.
Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
A broad understanding of theatrical and event standards and expectations.
Crowd management experience, with certifications preferred.
At least three years’ experience in box office, theater, or patron services.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as familiarity with booking and box office software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Open and close Box Office on day of event.
Generate reports to prepare for will-call call and night-of-event sales.
Process ticket orders and print tickets using ticket software, including telephone, online, and walk-up sales.
Handle cash/check/credit card transactions.
Generate and reconcile reports as needed by client and/or Fort Mason Center.
Coordinate with House Manager to ensure organized entry of patrons into the theater.
Check messages and return query calls in a timely manner.
Be familiar with ongoing Fort Mason Center events and venue information.
Keep Box Office clean and organized during shift.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands:
This position has no significant physical demands.This is an on-call position that fluctuates with the event season. Hours are not guaranteed, but during low season, one could expect five (5) shifts and during high season it could be as many as 12–15.
