The Education Department at KQED provides free resources to teachers and students that advance media literacy skills and civic engagement and that amplify youth voice. We produce the award-winning video series Above the Noise, the youth media site KQED Learn, and KQED Teach, which provides professional development courses for educators, among other services. We also support teachers and students in youth media production projects, through media challenges and KQED’s Youth Takeover.
The Production Intern for KQED Education will collaborate with the Education team to produce digital educational media to support our department’s work in instructional design, youth media production, and community engagement via social media.
A detail-oriented, self-driven person, the Production Intern will be responsible, along with the production team, for successfully supporting the production, distribution, and organization of the Education team’s media assets on time and budget to fulfill project objectives.
Key Responsibilities/Accountability:
An understanding of digital media production processes for diverse projects that include web, mobile, social;
Assist digital media producers and Distribution and Partnerships team with writing, formatting and publishing of blog posts on WordPress;
Produce digital media assets for multi-platform interactive projects, including but not limited to video, social media shareables such as .gifs, memes, and basic graphic design;
Assist digital media producers with archival research and reporting for stories;
Assist digital media producers with archiving deliverables on internal KQED servers;
Assist digital media producers and Distribution and Partnerships team with uploading content to various external distribution platforms;
Assist digital media producers on location with video production;
Assist digital media producers with quality assurance of projects, both for the content that is being presented as well as the technical nature of their delivery.
Skills and Qualifications:
Creative problem solving skills and working collaboratively within a variety of different content areas and teams;
At least 1-2 years experience in digital media production; especially with Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects, Illustrator and Photoshop;
Effective communication skills, both verbally and of the written word, and demonstrated ability to work with a large variety of diversified teams;
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize project deliverables while troubleshooting.
