Production states: "Seeking non-union bilingual (Spanish and English) actors for their virtual bilingual production of Garcia Lorca’s 'Bodas de Sangre'/'Blood Wedding,' translated by Andrés Gallardo Bustillo, as part of Origins Theatre Festival, a new bilingual multicultural festival celebrating diversity.

'Dream Way'

Casting “Dream Way,” a Vietnamese-American student dramatic short film. Synopsis: Follows a teen on the cusp of adulthood as he moves out for college from his childhood home. The night before his departure, he accidentally prioritizes his friend group over family, coming home to a sour household that has already undergone years of strain and distance. Our main character is then forced to evaluate the disconnect between his Asian upbringing and his American ideals of affection in order to confront why he is hesitant to say “I love you” before he leaves. In the final moments before he pulls out of his driveway, our protagonist decides to make the first step in the healing process for his family, which, much like his journey to college, feels unknown and all-too new.

Ryan (Lead): Male, 18-24
An emotive lead role that carries the story. Must be of Vietnamese descent. Scenes range from joyous/humorous; contemplative/observant; frustrated/angry. If actor has Vietnamese parents willing to act, that'd work perfect!

The supportive best friend that aids the lead in his emotional, complicated journey.

Vietnamese-immigrant Mom. A strong and upfront force/personality. Always ready to ask why something is happening or being done. An emotive role that has lines in frustrated argument as well as calm.

A calm, introspective Vietnamese-immigrant father that spends most of his time in the backyard garden. Very little speaking lines.

Ryan's friend group. We're looking for a Bay Area/San Jose-based close-knit friend group that holds an energy that takes after that of comfortable cousin-like humor and interaction. Only a few of these friends will have speaking roles, and can even be decided on set. Much of the performance is improvisation, as it's just based off of friends hanging out.
Aiming to shoot sometime towards the end of May/beginning of June over 3-4 days in the San Jose, CA. Currently planning for two night shoots, one full day. Production is flexible, and is willing to shape schedule to meet the right actor's availability.
Professional Pay: $40 - $70/DailyWhile still a student production, depending on if it’s a script-speaking role, offering between $40-$70 per actor/non-actor per day. COVID-safe meals provided, as well as snacks provided on set.
