Singer Auditions 2 sopranos, 1 tenor, 3 basses

Consider joining a happy, innovative, 20-voice chamber choir that excels in eclectic programming and exciting performances. The ensemble of choice for many audiences, composers, and singers, SFCA sings diverse and beautiful music, featuring newly commissioned American works, contemporary compositions, and choral masterworks of the last 700 years from around the globe.

With 33 seasons of experience, over 300 world premieres, excellent critical reviews, two Chorus America awards for “adventurous programming”, and a fine artistic director, SFCA can offer you the joy that comes from singing in a chamber ensemble with other talented, dedicated, and friendly choral singers.

Singers

You should have extensive choral experience, solo potential, excellent reading and musicianship skills, and be dedicated to the art of chamber singing.

Rehearsals

Selected Monday evenings prior to each concert set, from 7-10 PM, in San Francisco.

Performances

Each of three (occasionally 4) subscription concert sets is performed three times (in San Francisco, Oakland, and Palo Alto). There are usually a few additional performances.

Compensation

Modest financial compensation is offered for rehearsals and concerts. In addition, you will enjoy delicious and substantial mid-rehearsal snacks, and make new friends.

The Audition

To request an audition, please send an email with a brief musical resume to auditions@sfca.org. The audition includes vocalizing, assessment of vocal instrument and aural skills, tonal and atonal sight-reading, two prepared (but not memorized) works of contrasting style and language.

SFCA performs choral masterworks of the last 600 years and the works of living composers whom we support through several programs focused on fostering emerging and young composers as well as on established ones.
Details about the Choral Artists are at http://sfca.org. Select Auditions for details about auditions requirements and expectations.
