Event Planning and Promotion Associate

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
We are looking for an events associate to work at Manny's - the civic social gathering space at the corner of 16th and Valencia in San Francisco's Mission District.
Manny's combines high quality coffee drinks, beer and wine, and a full-service restaurant with a politically themed bookshop and large community and civic event space.
The goal of the events space is twofold: provide free or low cost space to civic organizations to use for their work and to provide opportunities for the public to engage civically through our own programming.
LOCATION
The location of Manny's is 3092 16th Street - at the corner of 16th and Valencia.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The events associate will be responsible for the following:
• Assist in the planning, execution, and promotion our events
• Create Eventbrite and Facebook pages for the events and integrated with the website
• Outreach to relevant organizations, clubs, community members, publications, and professional associations regarding upcoming events of interest to them
• Design simple graphics for event pages from time to time
• Assist in the set up and break down of the events as well as registration
• Find relevant articles to send to event attendees before and after an event at Manny's
• Promote the event with photos, videos, and testimonials through the Manny's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter channels.
• Brainstorm and schedule speakers in advance for the space
• Work with folks who've booked the space to answers questions, fill out all necessary paperwork, and process invoices.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Experience in event production
● Love of good coffee, beer and wine, food, and community
● Great people and customer service skills
● Ability to keep calm and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
● Facility with social media tools and marketing
● Excitement about the mission of building a civic social gathering space
● Ability to work independently without much supervision
● Bilingual with Spanish and record of involvement with social justice orgs is a plus!
COMPENSATION + BENEFITS
The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience, with opportunities for training and performance-based raises over time.
