The Play:
Set in San Francisco we follow the familial hijinks and travails of a divorced couple (famous gay playwright Basil St. Clair, his polyamorous ex-wife legendary actress Dagmar Cavendish) and their children (actor Hotspur--20, techie Rosalind--22) through love affairs (with actor & BDSM master Zoltán, and yoga teacher & playwriting student Dustin), substance-use, their sparkling lives in film, theater, yoga and tech. This two-act play spins from the highs of new love, hot lust and creating theater into the despair of substance use, physical assault, the real fear of being deported, and leaping into life’s adventures.

Stanford School of Medicine is hiring part-time simulated patient actors. Standardized Patients (SPs) are individuals who represent a diversity of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and a wide range of ages. SPs are trained to consistently and accurately portray specific emotions, behaviors, and disease symptoms. These encounters are designed to enable experiential learning and assessment of students’ skills.

ACTORS WANTED: Seeking a lively and diverse cast of 6 to host a Real Housewives-style (think over the top reality TV top drama) murder mystery dinner theatre event at TwiningVine Winery in Castro Valley in Saturday Aug 21 from 6pm-9pm.
Pay is $50 plus gratuity
Rehearsals will be minimal beginning August 7 - 2 hours via zoom and 2 hours at the venue. Improv experience preferred as actors will craft their characters alongside Director Melanie Goodwin for this loosely scripted event.

Custom Made Theatre Co. is accepting headshots and resumes for the world premiere of Jeffrey Lo’s "Zac & Siah, or Jesus in a Bodybag."
We are expecting to perform the show live at the Phoenix Theatre (Mason @Geary in San Francisco) from Oct 7-Oct 31, 2021 with performances Thurs-Sat 8pm and Sun 2pm. Rehearsals are expected to begin approx. Sept 6, and will take place evenings and weekends in San Francisco. The production will be directed by Adam L. Sussman.
We will be holding auditions over Zoom on July 6th and 7th, with 10-minute slots available from 5:30-9pm. Please write bkatz@custommade.org with your headshot and resume, and general availability for the Zoom audition. If you are selected, you will receive a slot and sides to prepare.
There will be an in-person callback at the Phoenix Theatre on Tues, July 14 from 6-9pm. Please save the date, should you be interested in the production. You must provide proof of being fully vaccinated at the callback. Should you plan on being vaccinated for the project, but not in time for the callback, let us know and we will make remote accommodations. However, all performers must be vaccinated by 9/1 to participate in this project.
If cast in the production, Custom Made will reimburse performers up to $750 in travel to and from the theater, and meals for any call over four hours, in accordance with AB5.
About the Play:
"Zac and Siah" is a reverently irreverent comedy set just after the crucifixion, when everyone is left confused and unsure of what to do next, especially Jesus' loyal homies Zac and Siah. Turning water into wine? They figured that out. Bread and fish for the village? They got that. But Jesus rising from the dead? That's another story, and Zac and Siah are running out of time to figure out how to keep their friend's credibility alive. Lo's witty, modern look at friendship and faith is fast-paced, funny, and a story for the ages.
All roles are open to performers of all genders. Character breakdown:
Zac and Siah - Working class, they're both hustlers, who've had to work, scam, or scrape by from an early age.
Specifically….
-Siah - Overeager, impulsive, occasionally cocky, occasionally goofy but not in a too adorable way. Neurotic energy.
-Zac - A pro, a cynic who found hope and purpose in Jesus, and is no over it. Still waters that run deep. He seems older than Zac. He's used to being a fixer.
-Joshua - Reads a little more higher in class than either Zac or Siah but just one or two rungs up the socio-economic later. Friendly enough but can also flip into a genuinely intimidating/unpredictable mode. Herc in The Wire energy.
